H.K.W.H.T.A.- Clarence Schilt, Author & Pastor

“The single, most helpful thing I have ever done for believers is to teach them to say outloud  ’Jesus I choose to trust You when you say [quote Bible promise here]‘ throughout the day, especially when they are under stress or in trouble.”

Clarence Schilt, Author of  How to Die Right & Live to Tell About It and Senior Pastor of the Rockwood Seventh-day Adventist Church District in the Portland, OR area. Clarence tells how he was an unhappy Adventist Pastor and husband until he learned how to trust Jesus in each area of his life. He has helped literally thousands learn how to store God’s word in their minds and recall Jesus’ promises and claim them throughout the day when they need them the most. He Knows What He’s Talking About (H.K.W.H.T.A.)

This summer at the Alaska Campmeeting in Palmer, Clarence shared a reading, in the form of a conversation, about Leadership and Self-deception. Using diagrams and Bible texts to accompany the message, he pointed out how we can get ourselves into trouble (in the “box” of self-centeredness) at home and in our relationships by not viewing ourselves as God sees us. This is for Clarence,

I just heard your Sabbath Sermon at the Univ. Church. Today I was with a group of health prof. students who want to know God more personally and learn to share His love so I missed your programs. Sorry, but first things first!

Eleanor recorded the Sabbath Sermon which I listened to a few minutes ago. You told the story of my life!
Phase one: a baptized SDA non-Christian desperately trying to be good by my works and to impress people that I was righteous.
Phase two: born again, knowing in my head that I “was saved” but with an empty heart.
Phase three: knowing in my heart that I knew that I was saved and now my whole world changed
Phase four: every problem is solved by surrender. This continues. At times I try on my own and have to die again. However, God took my heart of stone and is making it tender. There are many things He is yet to work out but I live a life of peace. Incredible peace. I praise God. My very worst days are now so much better than my best days could ever imagine being!

I’d love to hear from you.

In deep appreciation for what God is doing in lives, yours and mine. Your friend who continues to admire and appreciate you.

      Dear Harvey,

Although this quote came from Clarence Schilt, he is not the auther of this website. I’ve been trying to track him down and relay your message but have had no success.

Thank you for your comment, we appreciate hearing from you.

    Dear Pastor Clarence Schilt,

I have been watching you on 3ABN. I have been looking for some counselling concerning a serious situation and can’t find it locally with an Adventist Pastor or elsewhere that I have looked. I wonder if you remember you interned under my father in Vienna, Va and I was in your Religion class at Loma Linda in my Freshman year in Medical School. I didn’t complete medical school but choose to go to pharmacy school instead. I have been impressed by your counselling and tonight it was on anger and how to deal with it. I live in Spartanburg, SC now and it is a long way from Oregon but maybe you can steer me in the right direction. It is nice to see people from years ago on 3ABN. How is your wife and I think you had two daughters? They must be all grown up by now. I would pray for a response since I have praying for Christian counsel for my situation.

Thank You for your counsel on 3 ABN,
    Sincerely,
    Elizabeth Anne Stutler-Barrett
    Pastor Don Stutler’s daughter

My dad just turned 87 years old Feb. 17
My mom will be 84 this coming May 4th
