About

2 Timothy 2:2 “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”

If you’ve been called to be a Seventh-day Adventist pastor, you are in for a lot of joy mixed with quite a few challenges! How can you be faithful to the mission of taking the Adventist Message to all the world in this generation and at the same time juggle the responsibilities of family, health, personal time with Jesus and pastoral ministry? This website is designed to give you many useful insights. It is maintained by Dan Serns.

Dan Serns is best known as the husband of Lois and the father of Jacob, Dustin and Danesa. He is passionate about his daily walk with Jesus, and taking the Adventist message to all the world in this generation, if possible, while living a balanced life with his family. By God’s grace he has helped more than 2,500 people go on mission trips and trained thousands of pastors, teachers and lay leaders to find joy in their daily relationship with Jesus and soul winning.

His experience as a preacher’s kid, a pastor in one-, two- and three-church districts and on a single and multi-pastor church staff, as well as serving on the conference and union levels of the Seventh-day Adventist church, gives him unique insights into all areas of ministry. His involvement with Adventist Education includes attending one- and two-room church schools, a K-12 and a boarding academy and three Adventist colleges, and serving on the boards of five academies at various times.

He is a popular speaker, author and trainer of Pastors, Educators, Youth and Campmeeting audiences. People describe his presentations as Christ-centered, Bible-based and very practical. He likes to help people succeed in their walk with Jesus and efforts to be effective soul winners. Articles written by Dan have been published in Adventist World, Adventist Review, Ministry, Insight, various church union papers and on this blog under the heading “Why Not Try This?

Currently he serves as Ministerial/Soul Winning, Global Missions, Church Planting Director of the North Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists located in Ridgefield, Washington.

Pastor Serns:

Please contact me via my e-mail. I’m SDA struggling with Sabbath issues at work.

Thanks,
Cindy

Hi Cindy—

Thanks for your question about help for a Sabbath work issue.

My partners in ministry, Greg Hamilton and Rhonda Bolton, specialize in helping people in your situation. I recommend that first you check out their website- http://www.nrla.com - then click on “Mediation Services” then “Sabbath”), which is loaded with good help.

Blessings to you, and remember that no problem is ever as big as God is!! Check out this verse–

Thought for the Day (from the Adult Bible Study Guide for today): NIV Job 42:1 Then Job replied to the LORD: 2 “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.

What time do you folks meet on Sabbath, we would like to visit. Thanks Karen

Hi Karen–

Though my ministry takes me around the northwest and the world, my home church is the Meadow Glade Seventh-day Adventist Church. You can see the time and location information at http://eadventist.net/search/organization.asp?org=ANIFK1. We would love for you to visit or join!

The second Sabbath/Saturday afternoon of each month we lead the youth in an outreach activity. Our target Jan-Jun 2008 is the community of Battle Ground, WA. You are welcome to join us for that as well.

Blessings to you. Dan Serns

Thought for the Day (from the Adult Bible Study Guide for today): NIV Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is– his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I would like very much prayers for my son Matt & Tammy, Mark & Priscilla, Mike & Shannon, Mario & Alicia. Also for a friend Rex Spofford, and don’t forget to pray for me. I would like victory over all debt that i have with the businesses, so i can spend more time doing ministry work. I have 2 gift shops a bed and breakfast and a wholesale business. We mail books tapes, we give them to clients and we pray and talk with people. I love the Lord, and love to savor his presence. I want to be ready for him along with my family and lots of friends.
