Resources – White Estate, Vacation Bible School

egwWhile Ellen White may not have known the modern technology that we have at our fingertips today, her writings are available on an increasing number of devices and platforms. Stefan Serena, Ellen G. White Estate technical coordinator, is working with his team to make White’s writings freely available to pastors and laity alike through their websites, desktop tools and smartphone apps (Android and iOS). They have even released a site with photos of people and places from Ellen White’s time. You can read more about the work of the White Estate at AdventistWorld.org.

Start Planning for Vacation Bible Schoolvbs

While it maybe cold and snowy around the Northwest, now is the time to start thinking about the Vacation Bible School program for your church. This year’s program from the Review and Herald, titled The Investigation Station: The Genesis Factor, is available now. Created by a team of local church VBS leaders, children’s ministries directors, and pastors, the program teaches kids to investigate God’s Word. Featuring Adventist beliefs including God as the Creator, the seventh-day Sabbath, baptism, and heaven, The Investigation Station: The Genesis Factor is designed to connect with community children while engaging Adventist children in learning Bible truths. The program is available in English and Spanish from AdventSource or your local ABC.

Resources – “Called” to Launch Soon

calledA Digital Magazine for Adventist Clergy

The NAD Ministerial Department plans to launch a new digital magazine for Adventist clergy in North America in first quarter 2013. This electronic magazine will be available at no charge for all the pastors in the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist church to download on their iPad, Android, and Kindle Fire tablet devices according to Dave Gemmell, Associate Director of NAD Ministerial.

CALLED will delivery timely text articles, video, audio, and web interactivity. The new delivery system will replace the Pastor’s DVD which has served pastors of the NAD for the past ten years. Gemmell anticipates that CALLED will get pastors the resources they need faster, and more economically. “With 60% of pastors currently owning iPads or other tablets, the time is right to make the move,” says Gemmell.
